The International Network of Women Digital Experts (RIFEN)
RIFEN is an international organization working for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It contributes to this by promoting women and girls, both professional and academic, in fields related to the digital economy. The organization is the first women’s organization member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) sector and benefits from a strategic partnership with the African Telecommunications Union (AU) through a memorandum of understanding (Partnership). RIFEN is committed to equality, equity and female leadership in the digital ecosystem and has about 170 members and an Executive Board.
Main goal
Create a multidisciplinary pool of expert women
RIFEN is committed to creating a multidisciplinary pool of women experts in digital technology, bringing together various skills—engineering, data, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, public policy, design—to constitute a collective force capable of influencing the major technological challenges of our time. This diversity of expertise is a wealth: it allows us to approach digital technology from all angles and to propose more comprehensive, innovative solutions that are better rooted in the realities on the ground.
To exchange and work on sustainable development issues through digital technology
Today, digital technology is one of the most powerful levers for addressing sustainable development challenges – whether it concerns the fight against climate change, economic inclusion, access to education, or public health. But this transformation can only bear fruit if it is based on collective reflection, rooted in local realities and supported by a diversity of perspectives.
Address the challenges related to the inclusion and promotion of women and girls in national, regional, continental and international activities
The inclusion of women and girls in digital cannot be limited to isolated or ad hoc initiatives: it requires a structured action, able to bring their voice and value their expertise at all levels—local, national, regional, continental and international. Too often, women and girls remain absent from the great spaces of decision-making, representation, and influence where digital policies and strategies are shaped.

Executive Office and the Country Representations
The bodies of RIFEN are the Executive Board and the Country Representations. The Country Representations ensure the implementation of the vision and programmes at national level, while the Executive Office coordinates their activities.
