President's Message

«Dear Women Leaders, Smart Women, welcome to the Network! RIFEN »

The International Network of Women Digital Experts (RIFEN) is based on a statement shared by the ITU: the digital divide remains massive—nearly 2.9 billion people are still unconnected, overwhelmingly in developing countries—and women remain less present online than men, with gaps that are all the more critical in contexts where digital access could most transform trajectories. RIFEN, a non-governmental organization and sector member of the ITU, is committed to equality, equity and female leadership in the digital ecosystem.

Digital experts in decision-making

In the era of digital transformation, women who are experts in digital technology are all too often absent from the spaces where the strategic, technological, and political orientations that shape our societies are decided.

Digital without barriers

Digital technology can only fulfill its promise of emancipation if it is accessible to all, regardless of gender, social background, geographic location or disability. Yet persistent barriers continue to exclude millions of people.

Women’s digital entrepreneurship is teeming with talent and innovation solutions but many women entrepreneurs are still struggling to access the funding, networks, coaching they need to turn their ideas into viable startups.

RIFENTOUR4GirlsInICT

The future of digital technology is being built today, in classrooms and homes, where tomorrow’s vocations are taking shape. Many young girls are still moving away from science, technology, lacking inspiring role models, information or concrete opportunities to discover digital professions.

Child4STEM

The appetite for science, technology, engineering and mathematics is shaped from childhood, at an age when curiosity is intact and gender stereotypes are not yet established. This is precisely where the future of diversity in STEM fields lies: if we do not awaken this curiosity early, we risk losing it forever.

Ethics & TICs, let’s talk about it!

Information and communication technologies are profoundly transforming our societies, relationships, and ways of life but this revolution is not neutral. Personal data protection, responsible use of social networks, cyberharassment, misinformation, artificial intelligence and algorithmic bias.

RIFEN could not carry out its missions of digital inclusion and the promotion of female leadership in tech without the commitment of its partners public institutions, private companies, international organizations, universities, and civil society actors. Together, we combine expertise, resources and networks to multiply the impact of our actions on the ground: training, mentorship, advocacy, support for entrepreneurship and awareness-raising for younger generations.
